What Is a Liver Cyst?
A cyst on the liver or hepatic cyst is a water-filled sac located in the liver. Simple cysts are thin-walled, fluid-filled with clear fluid and harmless in nature. Complex cysts might have thicker walls or interior structure and noise additional diagnosis.
Common Symptoms
A majority of liver cysts do not give any symptoms. When it happens, they are often caused by the fact that the cyst has become so large that it presses against the surrounding organs:
- Pain, dull or full, in the upper right of the abdomen.
- Postprandial nausea or bloating.
- The sensation of a pressure in the stomach.
- Monitored discomfort, possibly resembling the pain of the gallbladder.
Causes
Although the actual cause of the development of cysts is not always clear, the probable reasons include:
- Results as inborn abnormalities of the bile-duct.
- Polycystic liver disease is also a genetic disorder.
- Past liver trauma or injury
