What the EUS Revealed
Finding answers and moving forward with treatment
Jenna's EUS identified a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, a relatively rare type of growth that had been causing her symptoms. The gastroenterologist was able to perform fine needle aspiration during the procedure, obtaining tissue that confirmed the diagnosis.
While hearing she had a tumor was frightening, Jenna felt relief at finally having a clear answer. The EUS provided detailed information about the tumor's size, location, and characteristics, allowing her medical team to develop an appropriate treatment plan.
Because the tumor was detected relatively early, Jenna was a candidate for surgical removal. Her gastroenterologist coordinated her care with a surgical oncologist, and within three weeks she underwent successful surgery. Follow-up imaging showed complete removal of the tumor.
Six months later, Jenna has returned to her normal weight and energy level. Her symptoms have completely resolved, and surveillance imaging shows no evidence of recurrence. She credits the EUS with providing the diagnostic clarity that made effective treatment possible.
That drive I was so worried about ended up saving my life. The EUS found something that needed treatment, and because we caught it when we did, the outcome was excellent.
