Two weeks after completing the monitoring period, Elena met with her gastroenterologist to review the Bravo pH Study results. The data revealed significant acid exposure, particularly during the night and early morning hours.
The study showed her esophageal pH dropped below 4 (indicating acid exposure) for 12% of the total monitoring time—well above the normal threshold of 4-6%. Most concerning, 60% of this acid exposure occurred while she was sleeping, explaining her morning hoarseness and throat clearing.
