Intro of Amerigroup
Amerigroup is a reputable managed care company offering health insurance services to individuals and families that are qualified to receive government-sponsored health insurance programs such as Medicaid and Children Health Insurance Programme (CHIP). Having a mission to enhance access to affordable healthcare, Amerigroup collaborates with the state governments to ensure underserved communities do not miss on accessing critical medical services, care coordination, and preventive resources.
Amerigroup serves populations or people with low income, children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities. Its model supports community-based care, wellness education, and cooperating with local providers in order to achieve improved health outcomes.
Our History
Amerigroup was established back in 1994 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Previous beneficiaries of it were low-income families and Medicaid children. The company soon became one of the biggest providers of healthcare based on government sponsorship and spread across all over the states. In 2012, Anthem, Inc. (now Elevance Health) acquired Amerigroup, and they were able to expand their operations and influence across the country.
Our Milestones

• 2001–2011: Expanded to more than 12 states.
• 2012: Sold to Anthem, Inc. to expand its mandate.
• Today: A wellness-based community provider of millions in Medicaid and CHIP coverage.
